Take Courage For The Person You Are Aspiring To Be: Don’t Walk, Chase Your Dreams!
Quitters Day is not for me. It’s not a day I support or entertain in my mind. If I did, I would be quitting on my dreams, my goals, myself. I would not have become the achiever that I am, because the goals that I make are the promises I choose to make to myself. If I can’t keep a promise to myself, how can I trust myself? How can I become the person I am striving to become? Strong, confident, and full of life and determination.
Every year I make my New Years resolutions. I make them because I believe in myself. I believe I am worth the value of accomplishing my greatest dreams. Maybe you just need a reminder that you are worth the cost. Maybe you just need a reminder of all of the things you’ve already achieved in the past to motivate you toward the future that you’ve set for yourself. It’s not the destination that matters, as much as the journey, the possibilities, and the adventures that await you. You never know what you can accomplish, unless you take the necessary steps in the direction of your dreams. Don’t make inaction a choice.
“Do or do not. There is no try.” (Yoda, Star Wars) That’s a quote I believe in and have made my mantra.
We’ve all taken a path. Some have traveled a difficult journey with many trials and tribulations. Some have taken a less difficult journey. Consider where you are now as a launching pad that can propel you to a future that is beckoning you toward something greater. It’s time to believe in yourself! Don’t wait for your dreams to happen. That day may never arrive, if you don’t do something to make them happen. Create them today. Begin the journey. All it takes is one step forward.
My life has been challenging, but what I see now is how far I have come. There is still more to go, but I am on the route that is leading me forward, learning, growing, and thriving. I’m not living in the past; that angry and confused little girl whose dad left; when the road became rocky. I can only see all of the obstacles I have overcome, because I didn’t quit. I didn’t give up on myself. I didn’t want to live where I was; poor, almost homeless. I stayed in school, even though it took me years to finally earn my degree. I studied hard to walk on graduation day. I didn’t settle for a boyfriend. I found “the one.” I wanted a healthy family and a career where I could be a blessing to others. I do what I do to be a light to others and to help people who are hurting. That is why my dreams and my goals matter to me. It’s my broken journey that has made me stronger, more resilient, and given me the confidence to be who I want to be.
I didn’t walk, I chased my dreams. You can, too.
Believing in my dreams and in myself has made me happier, given me confidence to know I have it in me to do whatever I set my mind to accomplish, and it has helped me to pursue my life's ambitions with clarity and purpose.
We all need people who are cheering us on and motivating us to believe, “You got this. You can do it.”
Whether it’s a small dream or a mountain top dream, you are worth the price of admission. You are worth the victory that awaits you on the other side of the finish line.
“If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” Martin Luther King, Jr.
Take your canvas and paint the scene now. Write your own story. Be brave enough to leave the shore, because your dreams are waiting for you on the other side. So, don’t be afraid to dream, to believe in yourself, and finish the race.
Today, it’s a dream. Tomorrow, is a new reality. It’s within your reach.
What will it take for you to become the person you are aspiring to be?
What path do you need to choose to get you to where you want to be?

“This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.” Habakkuk 2:3
